南アフリカ、北米。東洋区に広く分布する。日本では本州から鹿児島まで広く分布している。胞子嚢ができているシダ類に普通に見られ、三浦半島ではほぼ一年中成虫が見られる。

This species is widely distributed in South Africa, North America and the Oriental region. In Japan, it is widespread in Honshu to Kagohsima, and is common on fern leaves with developed sorus and occurs almost throughout the year in Miura-penunsula.
